5th Annual Association Challenge - November 7, 2009 Well, this annual event between Brandon, Dauphin and Winnipeg took place for the 5th straight year. And this year, for the first time, the Winnipeg association won the coveted plaque, and more importantly, the bragging rights for the year! It's always nice when the "home team" wins - yes, it was held in Winnipeg this year, at Bowl Below. This event is a fun way for the Manitoba bowling associations to get together, have a good time, and what else, bowl! Each association enters two teams of 4 bowlers (mixed teams) and we all bowl 5 games. The association that has the highest total pinfall plus handicap after the 5 games is declared the winner. Thanks once again to Wanda Howard, the WTBA President, who very competently and successfully organized this year's event. And of course, thanks to everyone who helped Wanda put it all together! Here were the scores:
Thanks to Earl Sobotkiewicz and Blair Chaban from Bowl Below. Thanks to Walter and Tyler from Bowl Below for putting up with us and keeping things running smoothly.
Thanks to the volunteers Peter Wight, Pat
Wight, Ed Oviatt, Joan Craig, Pam Buote.
Thanks to everyone that got door prizes so
everyone that bowled in the Tournament got one.
Thanks to Wanda Howard that did all the organization
for the Association Challenge and organizing the door prizes so everyone got
one.
Thanks to Ron Molinski for making sure there
was enough refreshments for all that attended the tournament.
Thanks to Pat Wight who spent a lot of time
baking the desserts that everyone enjoyed after the meal.
Thanks to Luigi's Catering for our meal and
for delivering it on time after we finished bowling.
Thanks to Bob Leveque and Eleanor Young who
came out to be spares just in case bowlers could not finish bowling or
got injured.
Thanks to all the teams that came out from
Brandon and Dauphin. We, the Winnipeg Tenpin Bowling Association hope that you
had a "GREAT" time!
And thanks to the cheering section that came
out.
The low individual game of the tournament
was by Carmen Chown, 101, and the high game was by Dan Tereck, 235.
We are looking forward to seeing everyone in
Brandon next year. Who will have the bragging rights next year?
Respectfully, The Winnipeg Tenpin Bowling Association Directors.
The coveted plaque changing hands from last year's winner - Dauphin, to this year's champions, Winnipeg. Ralph Piasta, Dauphin Association President, reluctantly giving the plaque to Wanda Howard, Winnipeg Association President.
