League of Nations Annual
Tournament in Brandon - Feb 26th
The Brandon Association is running their annual
League of Nations tournament at Thunderbird Bowl on Saturday, Feb 26,
2011. This is a fun and entertaining team event, in which each
team comes dressed in "costume", to reflect their
heritage. For example, I remember a Ukrainian-based team once
showing up in Ukrainian Dancing clothes.
Wanda Matskiw has asked us to help her promote
this tournament throughout the Province. She'd love to have
some teams from Winnipeg included in the fun. She's already got
a commitment to have at least one team from Dauphin too!
The teams consist of 4 people, and can be men,
women, or mixed. It is a 3 game handicapped event. And it
is followed by a banquet, and lots of prizes too.
Wanda wants to remind everyone that your choice of nationality to use
as your team's theme is completely your choice (i.e. you don't have
to be German, to dress in German clothes), and can be as elaborate
(or as simple) as you like. Last year's cost was $60 per person.
All of the details have not been completely
worked out yet, but when they are (later this month), we will post
the information here.
Stay tuned!
