WTBA recognized at CancerCare Manitoba reception
On November 18th, the Winnipeg Tenpin Bowling
Association was invited to a reception and dinner put on by
CancerCare Manitoba. The reception was to recognize all those
who provided significant donations to CancerCare Manitoba during the
past year - a way for CancerCare to say "Thankyou" to these
people.
Attending on our behalf, was Pam Buote, along
with her escort (actually, her driver), Peter Wight - both directors
on the association. It was fitting that Pam represent us
because it was her idea and her persistence and primarily her efforts
that allowed us to make such a healthy donation to CancerCare last
season. If you recall, most of the funds were collected by
holding 50/50 draws at most of the tournaments held in Winnipeg last
season. Our total contribution last year was $1,832.50.
The reception was held at the Tijuana Yacht
Club, and according to Pam, there were about 300 people there.
In addition to the reception, they also had a guest speaker there -
Sylvia Yeager - who topic was "How to laugh and learn your way
to becoming the Boss of Your Stress".
In Pam's words: "I'm so very honoured and
privileged to accept this plaque on behalf of the Winnipeg Tenpin
Bowling Association. I hope the 50/50 draws at all of the local
tournaments can continue on for many years to come. Also, a big
THANKYOU goes out to all who participated in the draws."
