Manitoba Youth Open - Oct 14,
2012, Laverendrye Lanes
This is the first one of the new series of
tournaments that the Manitoba Bowling Association has developed, in part to
replace the Odaguchi Senior Scratch tournaments which had been running for many
years but have been discontinued. There will be four of these during the
season, with the last one being the "finals". Trophies and
prizes will be awarded at the Youth year-end banquet.
There are new rules, and a new format, but it is still a
scratch tournament, designed to give our youth a taste of head-to-head
competition. This of course will help them to handle pressure situations
that arise during various parts of their bowling career. There are 3
Divisions, based on age, which helps to "even the playing field" for
the athletes.
The next tournament is scheduled for Sunday, Dec 9th,
10:30am, at Chateau Lanes.
AND....the winner of the 50/50 fundraiser draw that took
place at the tournament was...
Denise Fillion, who took home $37. All
proceeds from these fundraisers go towards the Youth Nationals Fund.
